Understanding Bone Grafts
Bone graft surgery can be used to help patients who have lost bone and supporting tissue due to gum disease. This can cause teeth to become loose. Our doctors can also use bone grafting to help build up the jawbone if it’s not thick enough to place dental implants.
Advatages of Bone Grafts
Fragments of a patient’s own bone or synthetic or donated bone can be used during this surgery. Over the next six to nine months, the surgery will help stimulate the growth of new bone and tissue. As a result, the tooth will be much more securely attached to the jaw.
