Oral Biopsy
Oral lesions can form for a variety of reasons, including infection and irritation. In a minority of cases, a lesion may be cancerous. Many times our doctors can immediately identify the type and cause of lesion. Sometimes, however, a biopsy is needed to pinpoint the problem, particularly if the lesion persists for more than two weeks.
Biopsy Benefits
We’ll perform the oral biopsy by scraping cells and sending them to a lab for analysis. The lab will be able to determine if the lesion is cancerous and may also help us determine the type and cause so we can treat it effectively.
